Terms, Privacy and Refunds
Version 2026-10-09
In short. You buy credits in one-time packs ($5, $10, $20, $50 or $120). Before you pay you see the price and the number of credits. Before every generation you see its exact price in credits. Credits are held when you press Generate and are only spent if the generation runs; if the provider confirms it did not run it, they come back automatically. Purchased credits do not expire. Unused packs can be refunded within 14 days; other refund requests are reviewed individually (see Refunds). Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.
Terms of Use
1. Who we are
Riftway Studio ("we", "us") is operated by RIFTWAY STUDIO, a sole proprietorship registered in Alberta, Canada. These terms apply to riftway.studio and the studio inside it (the "Service").
2. Your account
- You must be 18 or older.
- Use a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- One person per account. Do not share or resell access.
3. What you may not do
- Upload or create anything illegal, including sexual content involving minors, non-consensual intimate imagery, or content that harasses, threatens or defames someone.
- Use images, video or voice of a real person without that person's consent or other lawful authorization, or impersonate real people in a misleading way. Some features that work with a real person's likeness require a separate confirmation from you.
- Upload material you do not have the rights to use.
- Try to break, overload or reverse-engineer the Service, get around limits or prices, or access other people's files or accounts.
We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. What happens to credits in that case is described in Refunds, section 5. Where the law requires it, we may report content to the authorities.
4. Your content
You keep the rights you have in what you upload. You allow us to store and process it only to run the Service for you: showing it to you, sending it to an AI provider when you start a generation, and making backups. Other members cannot see your files, prompts or results. We do not claim ownership of your uploads or results. The AI providers we use may have their own terms for generated results.
5. AI results
AI results can be inaccurate, unexpected or similar to other people's work. A generation that runs but gives a result you do not like is still a completed generation (see Refunds, section 3). Check results before using them, especially commercially.
6. Availability and limits
- Generations wait in a queue when many people use the Service at once. You see your place in the queue. If a generation waits too long in the queue without starting, it is cancelled and its credits come back automatically.
- We set daily limits per account and for the Service as a whole to keep costs and abuse under control. If a limit is reached, the generation is not started and no credits are taken.
- We may pause a model or the whole Service (for example, if a provider has problems). Paused generations are not charged.
7. No warranty, limited liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law: (a) the Service is provided "as is" and "as available"; (b) we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data or content — please keep your own copies of anything important; and (c) our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for our fraud, gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act (Alberta) or any other consumer protection law that applies to you.
8. Changes
We may change these terms or prices. Price changes never affect a generation you already started. For important changes to these terms we will ask you to accept the new version the next time you sign in.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
Credits and payments
1. What credits are
- Credits are how you pay for generations inside Riftway. They are not money, have no cash value outside the Service, and cannot be transferred to another account.
- Purchased credits currently do not expire.
- Credit packs are one-time top-ups of $5 (500 credits), $10 (1,000 credits), $20 (2,000 credits), $50 (5,000 credits) and $120 (12,600 credits, which includes 600 bonus credits, +5%), in US dollars. Bonus credits in a pack count as purchased credits. The pack, its exact price and the number of credits are shown before you pay. We do not currently charge GST/HST. If Riftway becomes required to register for GST/HST, applicable tax will be shown separately before you pay.
- Monthly plans (only when shown on the pricing page): Access $39/month (4,000 credits) and Creator $75/month (7,900 credits). A plan renews automatically every month until you cancel. You can cancel or change it at any time in Manage subscription; cancelling stops future charges, and the current month is not refunded automatically.
- Credits from a monthly plan stay valid for 60 days from the day they are added. They are used before purchased credits. Any part left unused after 60 days expires; we show a reminder 7 days and 1 day before. Purchased packs are not affected and do not expire.
- If a monthly payment fails, no new credits are added until the payment goes through.
- Promotional or bonus credits, if we give them, may have their own rules (for example, an end date). Those rules are shown where the promotion is offered.
2. Prices of generations
- Before you press Generate you see the exact price in credits. That is the amount taken if the generation runs.
- If the price changes between when you saw it and when you press Generate (for example, a promotion ended), nothing is taken and you are shown the new price first.
- Promotions have a start date, an end date and a limit per account. After a promotion ends, the normal price applies.
3. How credits are taken
- When you press Generate, the price is held from your balance.
- If the AI provider completes the generation, the held credits are spent.
- If the generation fails before the provider runs it (the provider refuses it, the model is paused, it waits too long in the queue), the held credits are returned automatically.
- If we cannot tell whether the provider ran it (for example, the connection dropped at the wrong moment), the credits stay held until we check with the provider. If it did not run, they are returned.
4. Payment processing
Card payments are processed by Stripe. We do not accept PayPal at this time. We never see or store your full card number. Credits are added to your balance when the payment provider confirms the payment. Your payment history and receipts are available in your account.
Refunds
1. Unused purchased credits
Credits are not refunded automatically. You can request a refund by writing to support@riftway.studio from your account email. We will refund a credit pack in full if: (a) you ask within 14 days of purchase and none of that pack's credits have been used; (b) you were charged more than once for the same purchase; or (c) a fault on our side prevented you from using the credits. Other requests, including partially used packs, are reviewed individually and we will reply within 10 business days. Approved refunds go back to the original payment method, and the credits from that pack are removed from your balance. This section does not limit any refund or cancellation right you have under applicable consumer protection law.
2. Failed generations
This is not a money refund: the credits come back to your balance. You do not need to ask — if the AI provider confirms it refused or did not run a generation, its credits are returned automatically. If we cannot yet tell whether it ran (for example, the connection dropped at the wrong moment), its credits stay reserved until we reconcile with the provider; if it did not run, they are returned.
3. Results you do not like
A generation that ran is paid for, even if you do not like the result. If a result is clearly broken (for example, an empty or corrupted file), write to us with the generation's date; we check and return the credits if the result is defective.
4. Chargebacks and payment reversals
If a payment is refunded or reversed through your bank or card issuer, the credits from that payment are removed from your balance. If some of those credits were already used, your balance becomes negative and new generations are paused until the balance is settled or the dispute is resolved. If the dispute is decided in our favour, the credits are restored. If it is decided in yours, the removed credits stay removed, and if your balance is negative, generations stay paused until it is settled. Please contact us first — we usually solve problems faster than a chargeback.
5. Closing an account
You can close your account at any time by writing to support@riftway.studio from your account email; before you do, download any results you want to keep. If you close your account, you can request a refund of unused purchased credits under section 1. We may suspend or close an account that breaks Terms section 3; where the law and security allow, we will tell you the reason by email first. If we close your account without a breach on your part — for example, if we stop offering the Service — we will refund your unused purchased credits. If we close an account because of fraud, abuse of chargebacks or illegal content, unused credits may be withheld to the extent the law allows.
Privacy Policy
1. What we collect
- Account: email, the name you choose, your password (stored only as a salted hash).
- Consent records: which version of these terms you accepted and when, plus a one-way fingerprint (HMAC) of your IP address.
- Your content: files you upload, prompts, and results.
- Credits and generations: what you generated, when, the price, and credits held, spent or returned.
- Payments: amount, currency, date, status, the payment provider's reference numbers and receipt link, refunds and disputes. We do not receive your full card number.
- Technical data: IP address and browser information in short-lived server logs, for security and rate limits.
- Visit counts: we count page views per day, page and source without cookies or third-party analytics. To count daily unique visitors we store a one-way hash of your IP address and browser string with a salt that changes every day; we do not store the IP address in these statistics.
- Activity times: when you last signed in and last used the studio, to support you and protect your account.
- Saved characters: if you save a Character, the reference images you chose and your text description. We do not create face recognition or other biometric templates.
- Community templates: if you submit a template, its name and text become public after our review, together with a record of your consent. References, files and other prompts are never included, and you can withdraw a template at any time.
- Voice input: speech recognition is done by your browser (for example, Google in Chrome); we receive only the resulting text.
No advertising or analytics trackers, no third-party cookies. One cookie keeps you signed in.
2. Who can see your data
Other members never see your files, prompts, results or payments. The operator of Riftway Studio can access account and payment records to run the Service, handle support requests and meet legal duties; access to your content happens only when needed for that (for example, a support request or a legal obligation) and is logged.
3. Where it is stored
On our server rented from Hetzner Online GmbH, in the European Union (Germany, Hetzner region eu-central). Encrypted backup copies of account and payment records are also kept off that server.
4. Who else receives data
- BytePlus (ByteDance), ModelArk — your prompt and the reference files you selected, when you start a generation.
- Stripe — payment processing: your email, the amount, and your payment details (entered on Stripe's page).
- Google (Gemini API, Nano Banana) — your prompt and the reference images you selected, when you generate with these models.
- OpenAI — your prompt and the reference images you selected, when you generate with GPT Image; and your text when you use the Supercomputer assistant.
- fal.ai — the image or video you choose to upscale.
- Serper / Wikimedia — your search words, if you use reference image search.
- Telegram — private service alerts to the operator (may include an account name or job ID).
- Hetzner — hosting.
We never sell or rent your data. We do not upload your files to public file-sharing services.
5. How long we keep it
- Account and content: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
- Generation records: for safety and to handle abuse reports, we keep a record of each generation (account, time, prompt, reference files and result) for 12 months, even if you delete it from your library. Only the owner of the Service can access these records.
- Payment and credit records: as long as Canadian tax law requires us to keep business records (generally six years), even after an account is closed.
- Server logs: a short period. Backups: deleted data may remain in encrypted backups until those backups are replaced.
6. Your rights
You can ask us to show, correct or delete your personal information. Write from your account email; we reply within 30 days. Payment records we must keep by law are kept even if you delete your account.
7. Security
HTTPS, hashed passwords, SSH-key access to the server, per-account separation of files. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and report it as the law requires.
